Australian Aviation is reporting: “Speculation swirls around possible Australian subsidiary of VietJet Air”. Published 29 June 2026.
The airline, which already has subsidiaries in Thailand and Kazakhstan, has reportedly requested an air operator certificate and permission for a locally incorporated operation with 10 Boeing 737 aircraft.. For regional Australia, that matters because travellers rarely care about the aviation system in theory.
They care about whether people, freight or project teams can get where they need to be, at the time they need to move. Scheduled flights remain the simplest answer when the timetable works.
