Virgin Australia’s pet flights have now taken off from Adelaide, according to Australian Aviation. The first Adelaide service was VA218 to Melbourne on Tuesday, with two Chihuahuas travelling on board alongside the usual passenger load.
Adelaide now joins Melbourne, the Sunshine Coast and the Gold Coast in the airline’s pet-friendly network. It is a small but interesting shift in airline operations.
Carrying pets in the cabin is not just a cute headline; it relies on clear operator procedures, airport handling rules, passenger communication and cabin crew processes so the flight still runs like a normal scheduled service. That standards angle is worth watching as the network grows.
